Ona was born on February 8, 1923 in rural Ormsby, MN the daughter of Fred Emma (Meier) Kuehl. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Ormsby by Pastor Paul Affeldt. Ona attended elementary school district 32 in Long Lake Township and went on to school in St. James where she graduated from high school in 1942. She married Reuben Kohn on August 29, 1942 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was employed at Citizen's State Bank in St. James while Reuben served in the Navy during WWII. Her volunteer activities were numerous. She was a member or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, an active member of the ladies guild where she served terms as secretary and treasurer, on the Alter Guild, as well as various committees and bringing sermon tapes to shut-ins. Ona was also a member of the Watonwan County Extension Club where she served terms as secretary and treasurer. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Adopt a Highway, the Food Shelf and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 1914. Family members include, daughter, Michelle Kohn O'Laughlin and her sons, Lucas and Christopher of Evergreen, CO, son, Robin wife Sue Kohn and their daughters Kristine Johnson, and Laura Kohn April Kohn of Buffalo, MN, son, Rick wife Gail Kohn and their sons, Ryan and Jon of St. James, son, Ross wife Lisa Kohn and their children, Bridget, Allison, Jacob, Emily and Jacqueline of Mankato. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, niece, great-nephew, and nephew-in-law.
