Olivia Nathalia Simpson

Olivia Nathalia was born on April 25, 1912 the daughter of Oscar and Laura (Johnson) Nesterud just south of Stordan on the family farm. Throughout her life Olivia held many positions as a cook; the Madelia nursing home for 20 years, Etter's Cafe for 14 years, Tassler's Cafe in Lamberton and worked as a fill-in cook around the Madelia Community in her retirement years. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, baking and cooking and will always be remembered for her Lefse. Olivia was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid. Olivia Nathalia Simpson age 105, of Madelia, Minnesota died on October 14, 2017, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. She is survived by her sons, Alfred "Bud" Johnson, LaVern (Maryls) Johnson and Merle Johnson; sister-in-law, Betty Nesterud; 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Olivia was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Alfred Johnson and Dale Simpson; daughter, Opal Sanders; son-in-law, Richard Sanders; sisters, Lorraine McLean, Leora Baldwin and Marvel Laswell; brothers, Alton and Marvin Nesterud and daughter-in-law, Janice Johnson.
