Norman Robert Moe was born October 22, 1917, in Burnstown Township, Brown County, the son of Clarence M. and Maren (Sorum) Moe. A lifetime resident of the Springfield area, Norman farmed and raised cattle until retiring and moving to Springfield in 1983. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Roiger on June 16, 1941, in Springfield. Along with his brother Roy, Norman started what is now called the Springfield Municipal Airport in the 40's. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, flying, and especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren. Norman Robert Moe died Thursday, October 26, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 89 years. Survivors include wife- Genevieve of Springfield; son- Kent and wife Ann Moe of Springfield; daughter- Norma Hughes of Elk River; grandchildren- Matthew Hughes, Cathryn Moe, and Amy Moe; step-grandchildren- Jenifer Amberg and Suzanne Murphy; 4 step-great grandchildren; and brothers- George Moe and Roy and wife Margaret Moe, both of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother- Louis; brothers- Arthur and wife Grace, and Clarence and wife Hertha; and sister- Ida and husband Gustav Anderson.
