Norman Little

Norman Woodruff Little was born on March 14, 1927 to David and Mabel (Stone) Little in Codington County, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in April, 1943 at the First United Methodist Church in Watertown, South Dakota. He was a graduate of Watertown High School in 1945 after which he attended South Dakota State University. Norm joined the South Dakota National Guard and served during the Korean Conflict in Alaska for nine months. He married Audrey Nelson Werner on June 14, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Watertown. They farmed together in Sundown Township until retiring in 1993. In June they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Through the years, Norman served on: The Redwood County Farm Bureau Board, the Farmers Home Administration Board, two terms on the Springfield School Board, the Springfield Public School Advisory committee, the Springfield Area Hospice, the Clements and Springfield American Legion, and the United Methodist Church council, and many various committees. He also taught Sunday school at the United Methodist Church. Norman is survived by his wife, Audrey; and his children, David (Colleen) Little and their children, Jacob, Joshua, Timothy, Tanya, Anna; Martin (Arlene) Little and their children, Paul and Shelby; Joel (Stacy) Little and their daughter, Jessica; and Mary (Paul) Chedda and their son, Andrew. Norm is preceded in death by his parents, son Tim, and brothers Frank, Philip and Stanley. Norman was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family. He enjoyed farming and the farming lifestyle. He liked to travel and looked forward to the family camping trip each summer. He served God and was always ready to help others in need. He is fondly remembered by his family and friends as a kind and gentle man who lived his life with integrity.
