Neta Scholer

Neta was born on May 5, 1928, to Abraham J. and Helena (Dueck) Friesen in Mountain Lake, MN. She was baptized upon confession of her faith on May 24, 1942, at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. In 1999, Neta wrote the following about her life: I attended Mt. Lake Bible School 'til 6th grade, then public school 'til 9th grade. I worked gave the money home 'til I married. I met Al Scholer in Vancouver, B.C. in spring of '47 married Nov. 28, 1947. At age 45, I went to Mankato East High School received my G.E.D. Then I worked for Des Moines Valley Nursing Home Health Care. In 1975, I started to drive school bus for the Butterfield - Odin School district 836 drove for 15 years. When I was 50 years old, I attended Jackson Vo.Tech. received my nursing aide physical therapy aide worked in Windom hospital for 5 years. We've had a good marriage for 52 yrs. - 5 grown children 6 grandchildren. The Lord has supplied us abundantly good! Neta was an active member of the Community Bible Church of Butterfield and served in the Mission Society and as Church Organist. She enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. She was a seamstress and sewed many items, enjoyed quilting and did needlework which she shared with others along with toys she made. Neta H. Scholer, 78 ,of Butterfield, Minnesota died on Friday morning, December 1, 2006 at Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Neta is survived by her husband Alfred W. Scholer of Butterfield; five children, Russell Scholer of Fridley, MN, Mark Scholer and Connie Sandmann of St. Cloud, MN, Catherine Scholer of Alexandria, MN, Wayne and Kathryn Scholer of Fort McMurray,Alberta, Canada, and Lynn and Donna Scholer of Clear Lake, MN; six grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Adonna Friesen of St. James, MN and Clara Friesen of Yankton, SD; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Helena Friesen; a grandson, Jacob William Scholer; five brothers, Orlando, Waldo, Walter, Benno and Roland Friesen; and two sisters, Magdaline Friesen and one sister in infancy.
