Neil Curry passed away on February 12, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System - St. James. Graveside services will be 2pm, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, with Rev. David Lick officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Fort Snelling Memorial Honor Guard. Neil Fredrick was born July 24, 1932, in St. James, to Chester and Marie (Patient) Curry. He graduated from St. James High School in 1950. As a young man, he joined the Minnesota National Guard in St. James and was deployed to Korea, serving there Jan. 16, 1951 to Aug. 18, 1952. He married Eileen Enie Groshens Oct. 9, 1954, at the St. James Presbyterian Church. To this union, three children were born, Scott, Brian and Trisha. His career as a lineman at South Central Electric spanned 30 years. He was a lifetime member of St. James VFW Post 1914, St. James American Legion Post 561, a lifetime member of St. James Presbyterian Church, and was a 30-year volunteer fire fighter, also in St. James. Following retirement, he and his wife, Enie, wintered in Arizona for 20 years, where he enjoyed basket weaving and wood carving. Neil is survived by his wife, Eileen, of St. James; son, Scott (Margaret) Curry, Mankato, Minn., daughter, Trisha Curry, Sacramento, Calif.; siblings, Larry (Karen) Curry, St. James, Shirley (Dean) Schiller, North Dakota; three grandchildren, Shawna, Tara and Brianna; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ginny Curry, Houston, Texas; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brian; and brother, Don Curry. Graveside Services 2:00 pm Thursday, June 20, 2019 Fort Snelling National Cemetery 7601 34th Ave. S.
