Nathaniel Gordon Knaak was born on January 7th 1985 to Tim and Julie Knaak. He grew up on the family farm in rural St. James where he attended school and graduated in 2003. He went on to attend College and MN West in Pipestone and graduated in 2005. After graduating from college he moved to Marshall, later moving to SiouxFalls SD and then on to the Brookings, SD area. And after he was unable to work construction due to medical issues, he moved back to St, James to be close to family. Nate was called to heaven on April 13th, 2013. He was attending "Spring Training" conventions for Amway with his friends down in Greenville SC. Nate loved the outdoors; he loved to hunt and fish, along with camping with family and friends. Farming played a big part in Nate's life by helping out his Dad and Grandpa. He enjoyed all of this with his three brothers. Nate loved to spend time with his little monkey (sister) just goofing off. Nate also enjoyed cooking and shooting pool with his friends. Nate had many interests and hobbies stemming from wood working, construction work wood burning, working with his power tools and mechanics. Nate is survived by his father; Tim and Kathy Knaak of St. James, mother; Julie and Tom DeYoung of St. James, brothers; Joshua Knaak of St. Peter, Matthew Knaak of St. James, Taylor Knaak of St. James, sister; Jaden DeYoung of St. James, grandparents; Jerold and Charlotte Knaak of St. James, step-brothers; Brandon Hjelmer of St. James, Dustin Hjelmer of St. James, Ryan and Helena Mattison of Mankato, Tim Mattison of St. James, several aunts, uncles, cousins and god-parents; Terry Resick and Rhonda Miller. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Gordon and Elaine Frahm and step-mother; Cathy Knaak.
