Nathalie Christensen , age 92, of Springfield died on February 18, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, St. John Lutheran Home. Service will be held at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, St. John Lutheran Home, on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:30 am. The clergy will be Pastor Mark Luther Johnson. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Nathalie Rose (Guhlke) Christensen was born January 18, 1922 in Prairieville Township to John and Elsie (Kunze) Guhlke. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She attended school in District 36 in rural Sleepy Eye then worked at Pietrus, performed household duties for numerous people, worked at the telephone company in Cambria, and cooked at the Springfield American Legion. Nathalie was united in marriage to Victor Christensen and lived in Sleepy Eye and Springfield all her married life. Mom and Gram, as she was called by her grandchildren, was called the best cooker, enjoyed digging in the dirt and creating beautiful gardens, and canning enough to share with friends and family. She was a master baker and enjoyed sharing her goodies with everyone. She loved country life, animals big and small, spending time watching the birds, and refunding, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Nathalie was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the Springfield Legion Auxiliary for over 40 years. She is survived by her daughter Madalynn Ronning; sons- Doug Christensen, and Jeff (Doreen) Christensen; 7 grandchildren- Jamie (Chris) Stark, Susie (Paul) Matter, Lorel Christensen, Blayne Christensen, Daniel Christensen, Emily Christensen, and Cole Christensen; 6 great-grandchildren- Mandi, Tyler, Ryan, Omar, Sarah, and Josh; and 1 great-great-grandchild Teagan. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Virginia Wilkerson, sister Marvis Westerberg, grandson Nathan Nachreiner, sons-in-law- Delbert Stark, Lloyd Wilkerson, and Jim Ronning; and special friend Kelly Marks.
