Nancy was born to her parents Carsten and Anna Nelson on July 25, 1933 in Minneapolis Minnesota. As a young child she enjoyed many adventures with her brother Marvin. Her Norwegian heritage shown through her love of speed-skating, and watching hockey (loudly). She graduated South High School in 1951, and attended the University of Minnesota. She was baptized, confirmed, taught Sunday School, and was President of the Luther League at Bethany Lutheran Church of Minneapolis. As a young woman she became a member of the Civil Defense Spotter Program, where she was proud to have earned her "Wings". She worked at Minneapolis Moline as a secretary. During her time with the company she was chosen to represent Minneapolis Moline as an Aquatennial candidate. In 1953, she represented the United States Navy in 8 parades on their Recruitment float. She was united in marriage to Daniel Stoesz on March 19, 1955. They spent some of their early living in Butterfield MN, Bloomington MN, and eventually settled in Mountain Lake MN. Nancy enjoyed a busy, full family life that brought her great joy. She also shared her remarkable strength with family and friends, even as her life filled with many trials and sorrow. Through her courageous, seven year battle with cancer, her kindness, love and laughter never stopped, and her smile and spirit never faded. Her later years were spent working at the former Mt. Lake Hospital, Good Samaritan Village and volunteered for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed crocheting (blue ribbon winners), traveling (trespassing on Pentagon grounds), playing piano (beautifully) and spending time with family and friends (her laugh was contagious). Her grandchildren were her life and inspiration. Nancy Sylvia Stoesz (Nelson) of Mountain Lake Minnesota passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the age of 83. She is survived by her daughter Karen Stoesz of Mt. Lake, son Kenton Stoesz of Mt. Lake, daughter Kathleen Hagfors (David Sanford) of Glenwood MN and her children Alexander Quiring of Waconia MN and Amanda Quiring of Chaska MN, daughter Kristine (Michael) Hudson of Mt. Lake and their daughter Taylor, and brother Marvin C. Nelson of Champlin MN. She is preceded in death by her Parents Carsten and Anna Nelson, Husband Daniel, Son Curtis, Son Perry, Granddaughter Danielle Hudson, and her Sister-in-law Phyllis Nelson.
