Myrtle Schroepfer

August 7, 1917 — March 30, 2007

Myrtle was born August 7, 1917 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Tierney) Johnson. She graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1935 and was united in marriage to Albert Schroepfer on October 26, 1940. Myrtle attended dancing school with her sister - Ruth in Minneapolis and Mankato. They were the originators of the Johnson Sisters School of Dance. They conducted classes in Tap, Ballet, Acrobatic, and Ballroom dancing in Sleepy Eye, New Ulm, and Springfield. In 1957 Myrtle and Albert purchased Ben Franklin Store in Sleepy Eye. They owned and operated the store until retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society, and the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards, and being with her family. She was an avid sports fan, attending Minnesota Vikings games, two Super Bowls, Indianapolis 500 races, and Pro Golf tournaments, including 20 Masters Tournaments. She is survived by her husband - Albert Spin Schroepfer; sons - Gary, Thomas, and John Schroepfer, all of New Ulm; a sister - Ruth Johnson of Sleepy Eye; and a sister-in-law - Marie (Mrs. Herman Wolf) of St. Paul. She is preceded in death by her parents.
