Myrtle Kyar

September 25, 1915 — September 13, 2011

Myrtle Marian (Jensen) Kyar was born on September 25, 1915 in Brookville Township, Redwood County, the daughter of John A. Clara (Schultz) Jensen. She was confirmed at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan, MN. On June 2, 1934, she married Herbert Kyar. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to quilting on Monday mornings at church, helping with bingo at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, spending time with family and having coffee with friends. She especially enjoyed going to family celebrations, bringing along her famous Turtle Cookies. She was also known for her delicious pies and bread pudding. She made quilts and crafts for her family and crocheted many doilies and afghans. She also enjoyed going to garage sales with friends. She was able to care for herself in her Lake Villa apartment until the end of August when she became ill. She was a caring and giving person with a friendly smile and always willing to lend a helping hand. She is survived by children, Fay Williams of St. James, Gloria Hawkins of Wickenberg, AZ, Shirley Whitmer of Palmer, AK, Roger (Eva) Kyar of Upton, WY, Joan (Douglas) Freyholtz of Fairfax, Jane (Ronald) Fischer of Sleepy Eye, 24 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, sisters-in law, Ruby Jensen, Nellie Jensen, Irene Kuelbs and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, husband, Herbert, son, Larry, granddaughter, Christina Freyholtz, grandsons, Dean Jones, Rick Fischer, Bill Johnson, Mike Jones and sons-in-law, Donald Zuhlsdorf, Howard Johnson and Gene Williams.
