Muriel Adeline Walsh

Muriel Adeline (Tande) Walsh passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2015, surrounded by family at the Truman Senior Living Center. Muriel was born on September 30, 1921 to Anton and Minnie (Bakke) Tande of Madelia. She was baptized and confirmed in the Rosendale Lutheran Church of rural Madelia. Muriel was educated in the local District 10 rural school grades 1-8 and graduated from Madelia High School in 1938. She was crowned the first Homecoming Queen of Madelia. She married William Clyde Walsh on September 18, 1947. Most of their married life they lived and farmed the Walsh family farm from 1950-1972. Muriel was an excellent cook and prepared many delicious meals for hired farm help. In 1974, they retired and moved to town in Madelia. Muriel loved the game of Bridge; playing in her Bridge club continued until the time of her death. For years, Muriel looked forward to preparing and hosting a family brunch every Sunday morning following church service. There is a huge void without her, and her caring spirit will be greatly missed. Muriel is survived by nephews, Larry (Carolyn) Tande, Gerald (Arla) Tande, Paul Tande, Thomas (Katherine) Urevig, Douglas Urevig, Gregory Urevig and his special friend Janet Rossow, Catherine (Brian) Rossing; great-nieces and nephews, Thane (Kelly) Tande, Tara (Dan) Swenson, Karen (Paul) Olson, Rhys Tande, Seth (Kaye) Tande, Thea (Jeremy) Leiferman, Scott Urevig and his special friend Carolyn Pentico-Jahnz, Chad (Lori) Urevig, Britta (Matt) Romsdahl and family, Todd, Lonnie, Erin and Jordan Rossing. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leslie (Gertrude) Tande of Madelia, MN; sister, Evelyn (Edgar) Urevig of Lewisville, MN; brother-in-law, Norbert (Margaret) Walsh; nephew, Thomas Walsh; great-nephew, Kurt Tande, and great-niece, Wendy Tande.
