Minnie Franz was born on May 18, 1913 to Henry and Elizabeth (Seimen) Franz. She grew up on a farm near Delft, MN and went to German school in Mountain Lake, MN. Minnie married Ervin Goertzen on February 22, 1936. They farmed west of Mountain Lake, MN and later moved to town where Ervin was employed at Land O'Lakes and she worked at Hiebert Greenhouse for a number of years. She also worked part time at Book Nook. Minnie made beautiful quilts, was an excellent cook and enjoyed her big gardens. From her garden she was able to do a lot of canning with the help of her six children. She is survived by her children: Patricia Fiedler of Middleton, WI, Myrna (William) Kimmes of Columbus, OH, Connie (Darryl) Hoffman of LeSueur, MN, and Myron (Merlys) Goertzen of Minneapolis, MN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Goertzen; two sons, Douglas and Ronald Goertzen, her parents, and her brothers and sisters.
