Milton Hoehne

Milton E. Hoehne, the son of Ernest and Lena (Werner) Hoehne was born on October 18, 1908, in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, MN. He received his education at Cottonwood County District #29 country school in Germantown Township. On September 12, 1934, Milton was united in marriage to Mabel Pooch at the Church of Christ in Lamberton, MN. They lived and farmed in Highwater Township from 1934 to 1954, when they purchased and moved to a farm in Germantown Township. This is where they continued to farm until retirement in 1971. He also continued his father's Renk Seed Dealership for over 25 years. In 1988, they moved to a new home they built in Lamberton. Mabel died on April 3, 2001. In April 2004, Milton moved to the Remick Ridge Estates assisted living in Windom, MN, and in May 2005, he moved to the Heritage House in Windom where he received extra special TLC. As a youth he was a member of the EUB Church in Germantown Township. In 1939, he joined the Church of Christ in Lamberton, where he was an active member serving as a Trustee and as Treasurer of the Building Fund for many years. Milton enjoyed softball and baseball, hunting, short trips in the country, rides to the farm, mowing the lawn until last year, and caring for fruit trees and gardening in his retirement. He loved to fish whenever he could locally, his fishing trips to Canada, and his annual trips to Leach Lake. Milton also loved playing checkers, dominos and other games with his grandchildren. Milton died on Saturday evening, September 17, 2005, at the Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN. Milton is survived by three sons, Donald and his wife Janet Hoehne of Rosemount, MN, Dale and his wife Anne Hoehne of Butterfield, MN, and Dennis and his wife Joyce Hoehne of Windom, MN; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Lilas Nickel of Two Harbors, MN; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel; a daughter, Phyllis Schultz; a grandson, Tim Davenport; and a brother, Orval Hoehne.
