Milo Wetter

March 14, 1918 — January 3, 2013

Milo was born in Lamberton Township, Redwood County on March 14, 1918. He was the son of Otto and Hazel (Coomes) Wetter. At the age of two the family moved to a farm five miles north of Lamberton, Waterbury Township and lived there until his marriage. He attended grade school in Wanda and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1936. He then started farming, his life endeavor. On September 14, 1940 he was united in marriage to Arlene Coulter, the daughter of George and Meta, at their home in Waterbury Township. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. They started their life of 63 years together on a farm two miles north of Lamberton. In 1947 they moved to the farm where Milo grew up and farmed there until the end of 1978 when they retired and built a home in Lamberton, moving into it the end of December 1979. They were lifelong members of the Lamberton Methodist Church, the place where it all started. In his farming years he served on the Lamberton creamery board and was active in church. In his retirement he helped Galen with the harvest through age 88. He also worked for Meadowland in the spring and fall for a few years. The time came when living alone was to be no more. He entered Valley View Manor in October 2008 where he lived until his peaceful passing on January 3, 2013 while sitting in his chair with his feet up, paper in his lap, TV on and remote in his hand. This was the day he was waiting for. His enjoyment was his family including grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who came to visit and spend time with him. He is survived by his four children Galen and wife Lois of Lamberton, Janet and husband Richard of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Marilyn and husband Keith of Mounds View, Minnesota, Don and wife Barbara of Cross Lake, Minnesota, sister Donna Goolsbay of Houston, Texas, brothers Bruce and wife Arlene of Lamberton, Myrland and wife Marlene of Eagle Lake, Minnesota, 12 grandchildren: Craig and wife Barbara, Noel and wife Carol, Eric and wife Amy, Seth and wife Tanya, Michael and wife Michelle, Amy Owen, Brian and wife Jane, Kyle and wife Paula, Todd and wife Erin, Bradley, Scott, Christopher and wife Tamara, 24 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, some cousins, many nephews and nieces, and Elaine Plakke of Mankato. He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene in November 2003, parents, brothers Maurice and wife Edna, Duane, Merle, sister Zona and husband Merle Krinke, brothers-in-law Roy Goolsbay, Armin Coulter and wife Inez and great grandson Micah Wetter. Blessed be his memory.
