Mildred Margaret Widmer was born October 13, 1925, in Redwood County, the daughter of Frank and Sophie (Welch) Suess. She grew up in the Lucan area and attended Wabasso Public Schools. On February 10, 1944, Milly was united in marriage to Wilfred (Wimpy) Widmer in Lucan. The couple moved to Springfield where Milly worked as a housekeeper for some local families while Wimpy was overseas serving in the U.S. Army. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and the CCW. Milly enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting, raising her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mildred Margaret Widmer died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 80 years. Survivors include sons- Gary and special friend Karen Knapper of Springfield, Gene and special friend Deb Berg of New Ulm, Jim and Mona of New Ulm, Dave and Martha of Redwood Falls, and Dan and Deb of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Wilfred in 1994; grandson- Danny, Jr. in 1985; brothers- Leonard and Lawrence Suess; and sister- Josephine Ebnet.
