Michael Miller

Michael "Mike" James Miller, age 64, of Lamberton, MN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 14th, 2020 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center, Sleepy Eye, MN. A private family service will take place at Highwater Lutheran Cemetery. Mike was born in Springfield, MN (Brown County) on February 5, 1956. His parents were the late James and Janet (Quade) Miller. He was baptized the year of his birth and confirmed in 1970 at the Highwater Lutheran Church, Cottonwood County, MN. He received his education at Jeffers Elementary and Storden-Jeffers High School where he received his high school diploma in 1974. He went on to earn his Associate of Arts Degree from Bethel Lutheran Junior College in Mankato, MN in 1976. At Storden-Jeffers High School he excelled as a first baseman in baseball. He also played as a wide receiver and defensive end in football (#88) receiving a Redrock Conference Honorable Mention award. He was a star center for Storden-Jeffers Chiefs Basketball team (#34) which team was the Redrock Conference champion his senior year (Mike was All-Conference his senior year). Mike received a basketball scholarship to Bethany Lutheran Junior College where he was a starter for 2 years. After college Mike followed in his parents footsteps and became a farmer. He then worked at the Jeffers American Legion. Later he was employed at Christensen Farms (Sleepy Eye) as a breeding technician. Between 2010 and 2018 he worked as a Wean Finish Manager at Schwartz Farms near Tracy, MN. Mike enjoyed fishing, watching sports, telling jokes, and taking long drives in the country with his partner of 21 years, Katie Foss. He always wanted to know about how you and your family were doing; he had a heart as big as the state of Minnesota. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends and all who knew him. Katie's grandchildren treated Mike as their grandfather. He is survived by his partner Katie Foss, her 3 daughters, Emily Obermiller, Amanda Lam and Liz Foss as well as Katie's 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by his four siblings: Sherry (Michael) Feeney of Colorado Springs, CO, Reid (Deb) Miller of Storden, MN. Stacey (James) Snyder of Colorado Springs, CO and Corey (Wendy) Miller of Colorado Springs, CO as well as his many nieces and nephews.
