Michael Deree

Michael Alan DeRee was born on April 22, 1952 in Plymouth, MA to Linwood Francis, Sr. Constance Mary (Ellis) DeRee. He grew up in Rockland, MA where he attended and graduated from High School in 1970. He entered the US Army in 1971 and his family moved to Sleepy Eye that same year. He traveled the world in the Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany, Ft. Carson, CO, Butzbach, Germany, Ft. Campbell, KY, Ft. Sheridan, IL, Stuttgart, Germany and Ft. Sill, OK where he retired in September of 1993. Michael met Marianne Lehmann in 1972 in Berlin and they were married on March 15, 1974 in Berlin. They had there first son on December 15, 1974. In 1976, they moved to Ft. Carson and on January 13, 1978 they had there daughter. In 1979 they moved to Butzbach and then in 1982 moved back to Ft. Campbell. In 1986 they moved to Ft. Sheridan and in 1988 returned to Stuttgart and in November of 1991 he was sent to Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He returned in April of 1992 with his family in Germany. They moved to Ft. Sill in the summer of 1992 where he retired in September of 1993. He worked for Letra in Ft. Sill doing park maintenance for 20 years and in 2012 he moved back to Sleepy Eye. He enjoyed family, gardening, fishing and his puppies Pride and Joy. He is survived by his wife, Marianne DeRee of Sleepy Eye, daughter, Tracy (Richard, Jr.) More of Sleepy Eye, son, Marcus (Candida) DeRee of Waterloo, IA, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, siblings, Fran (Linda) DeRee of Milford, DE, Bob (Joy) DeRee of Port Orange, FL, Dave DeRee and Paul Fortune of Savage, MN, Cheryl (Manny) Blank of Sleepy Eye, Debbie DeRee, Maggie DeRee and special friend Kathy, all of Sleepy Eye and mother-in-law, Ericka Hemp of Berlin.
