Meta Lawrence

Lydia 'Meta' Lawrence was born January 13, 1898 in North Star Township, Brown County, the daughter of Ed and Mary (Timm) Krueger. Meta spent her childhood in North Star Township then attended Nursing School in Bismarck, ND, graduating in 1920. She worked as a nurse in Minnesota, then Colorado, returning to Minnesota in the early 1940's. Meta was united in marriage to Milton Lawrence on June 29, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They lived on a farm in Sundown Township before moving into Springfield in 1965. Meta was a member of the United Methodist Church, the U.M.W., the Hospital and St. John's Home Auxiliaries, the Nurse's Association, Home Extension Group and Birthday Club. She enjoyed reading, crafts, crocheting fanciwork, crossword puzzles, baking, and was an avid baseball fan. Lydia 'Meta' Lawrence died Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Home at the age of 106 years. Survivors include sister- Evelyn Sonnenberg of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded indeath by husband- Milton in 1993; brothers- John and Arthur; and sisters- Alma, Esther, Lena and Anna.
