Merlyn Jerome Peterson

Merlyn Jerome Peterson was born on November 26, 1939 to Paul and Clara (Iverson) Peterson in Tracy, MN. He graduated from Tracy High School. After graduation, he served in the United States National Guard. Merlyn worked at the Hatchery in Lamberton and also as a rural paper carrier for Pioneer Press, Minneapolis Tribune, and New Ulm Journal. On August 11, 1973, Merlyn was united in marriage to Ruth Mattison at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, and reading. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Springfield; children, Gary (Sharon) Peterson, Dale (MaryLee) Peterson, Jeffrey Peterson, James Peterson, Thomas Peterson, Janel (Paul) Martinka, Jennifer Peterson and Paul (Sharon) Peterson; 18 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Huset and Shirley (Les) Bly. Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clara; sisters, Donna Mickelson and Virginia Noethe; and brothers-in-law, Orville Huset, Bennie Noethe, and Sam Mickelson. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield.
