Melvin Busse

Melvin Theodor Friedrich Busse was born on November 6, 1914 in Charleston Township, Redwood County, MN, the son of Henry George and Ella Mary (Ork) Busse. He lived on a farm southwest of Sanborn in Charleston Township and attended Sanborn Public School. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He was united in marriage to Evelyn A. Blegen on November 29, 1935 at Sharon Lutheran Church Parsonage. The couple farmed southwest of Sanborn and moved into Sanborn in 1974, later moving in November 2002 to the Valley View Apartments in Lamberton. He served as President of the Church Council at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, a member of Sanborn School Board, and drove School Bus for Sanborn Public School for 20 + years thoroughly enjoying interacting with the children. Melvin enjoyed fishing, taking day trips to Red Wing with Evelyn to see the fall colors, woodworking, making birdhouses, lawn ornaments, flower arrangements, making special rocking chairs and bobsleds for his grandchildren, and decorating for the Christmas Holiday. Melvin became a resident of Valley View Manor in August of 2008 which he truly thought of as his home. Melvin was a compassionate son, husband, father, grandfather and friend who had a unique sense of humor. Melvin died on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton, MN at the age of 96 years. He is survived by his children - JoAnn and husband LeRoy Lingbeck of Loveland, CO and Peggy and husband Jerry Martius of Sanborn, MN; four grandchildren and their families - Kevin and wife Cindy Lingbeck and their son Justin K. and wife Jennyfer; Kaye Jolly and sons - Chase and Hayden and ex grandson-in-law - Andrew Jolly; Jennifer and husband Daniel Eberhard and sons - Bowen and Liam; and Darren and wife Kristine Martius and children Tyler, Jordan, Amy, Karson Martius and Angel Halfmann. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife - Evelyn; a sister Jeanette Petersen; granddaughter - Kimberly A. Lingbeck and grandson-in-law - Bradley Heilman.
