Melva Koch

September 15, 1923 — December 21, 2008

Melva Leona Koch was born on September 15, 1923, the daughter of John and Delia (Vollmer) Meinert in Leavenworth Township, Brown County. She was baptized on October 21, 1923 and confirmed on April 11, 1937 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Melva was united in marriage to Leonard Koch on May 29, 1951 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, MN. The couple farmed by Evan for 16 years. In 1968 they moved to a farm Northwest of Lamberton and in 1992 they retired and moved east of Lamberton. Melva worked at Valley View Manor in Lamberton for 24 years in the housekeeping department. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. Melva enjoyed baking, cooking, crafts, sewing, and country life - especially raising ducks, geese, chickens. Melva died on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her husband - Leonard of Lamberton; children - Kenneth (Paulette) Koch of Walnut Grove, Randy Koch of Laramie, WY, Steve (Traci)Koch of Hawick, MN, Ron Koch of Bloomington, MN, and Darla (Rod) Priebe of Rogers, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister - Mildred (Philip) Fiebiger; brothers - Delbert (Violet) Meinert, Raymond (Hildegard) Meinert, and Lloyd (Erna) Meinert.
