Medard Joseph Haala

Medard J. Haala, age 74 of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, died on August 22, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church – North Entrance in Sleepy Eye. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. The clergy will be Fr. Samuel Perez. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Medard Joseph Haala, the son of Leo and Rose (Tauer) Haala, was born on March 24, 1952, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He grew up in rural Sleepy Eye on the family farm with his two brothers, Donald and Patrick. Medard attended school and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. He furthered his education and started his own body shop business. Living a simple life on his childhood farm, Medard enjoyed gardening and working on automobiles.

Medard is survived by his brothers, Donald (Patty) Haala of Sleepy Eye and Patrick (Ginny) Haala of Morgan; three nephews; one niece; and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
