Mavis Violet Erickson

Mavis Violet Erickson was born on September 1, 1933 to Elmer and Ida (Schwantes) Hauptli in Willow Lake Township. She was a graduate of Wabasso High School class of 1951. On February 12, 1956, Mavis was united in marriage to Glen Erickson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. She worked for Oak Grove Dairy, was a carhop for 13 years at Mama Gs Drive-in, Och's Brick and Tile Company as a bookkeeper, and Springfield Floral. She was a 60+ year member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a part of the Mary Magdalene Circle, taught Sunday school, and was a bible study leader. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mavis enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening, flowers, dancing, wintering in Arizona for over 20 years, and assisting with bingo at St. John Lutheran Home. Mavis died on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Rochester, MN at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband Glen of 61 years; children - Steven (Joan) Erickson of Marshall, Nancy (Gary) Renner of Springfield, Paul Erickson of Mankato, Tom (Corinna) of Breckenridge, MN; grandchildren - Chad Erickson, Corey Erickson, Lucas Ryan, Cassy Burton, Lacey Ryan, Emily Erickson, Dominic Erickson, Ana Erickson, and Andy Renner; great grandchildren - Cole Erickson, Sullivan Ryan, Levi Burton, Finnegan Ryan, and Graham Erickson; sister - Violet Vi (John) Johnston of Olivia; and sister-in-law Alice Baumann of Alexandria. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Elton Hauptli.
