Maude Yackel

Maude Alice Yackel was born December 14, 1904, in Sterling Township, Polk County, WI, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Shilling) Perry. She moved to Lamberton with her parents in 1920, and was united in marriage to John Carl Yackel on July 25, 1922, in Redwood Falls. The couple farmed on various local farms until moving to the Yackel farm home in 1929. They lived on the farm until after John's death in 1988. Maude moved to a home in Lamberton in 1990 where she lived until entering Valley View Manor in August of 2005. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and reading. Maude Alice Yackel died Thursday, February 16, 2006, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 101 years. Survivors include children- Lavon Bloedow Engeswick of Lamberton, Eva and husband Reuben Dallmann of Lamberton, Cheryl and husband Marlowe Essig of Lamberton, Ruth Merringer of Lamberton, and Annette and husband Loren Johnson of Euless, TX; 23 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 28 great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- John; grandson- William Essig; great grandson- Aaron Baumann; great granddaughter- Kristen Erickson; sister- Blanche Winkler; and sons-in-law- Fernie Bloedow, Russell Engeswick and Ray Merringer.
