Matthew Menne

Matthew Menne, age 39, of Swanville, Minnesota and formerly of Saint James, Minnesota, died on September 7, 2024, due to an automobile accident.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota at a later date.

Matt was born January 17, 1985, to Kristie in Fridley, Minnesota. He graduated from Butterfield-Odin High School in 2003. Following high school, Matt joined the Minnesota National Guard. He proudly served with the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division spending 21 months in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Matt was honorably discharged from service in 2011.

Most recently, Matt lived in Swanville, Minnesota running a turkey farm for Jennie-O.

Matt was an avid football fan and cheered on the Minnesota Vikings. Most of all, he loved his children and will be deeply missed. Blessed be his memory.

Matt is survived by his children, Lillianna, Remedy, Harmony, Ezekiel, TK, Lyric and Waylon; parents, Kristie and Terry Smith of New Ulm; brother, Derrick (Jessica) Smith; and the children's mothers, Hailey and Yessica.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandmother, Judy Norby.
