Mary Ellan Zschetzsche was born July 9, 1914 in Somerset, WI, the daughter of Edward H. and Rose (Kriesel) Callanan. She attended St. Raphael's Catholic School in Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School. She then attended and graduated from St. Theresa's College. Mary was united in marriage to Edwin Zschetzsche on February 9, 1957 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. She worked as a Teacher for several years in Montorville and Farmington, MN and in the Del Monte office in Sleepy Eye. She was member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and a faithful volunteer at the Rectory. She also worked at the Food Shelf, was involved with the Schoenstatt movement, sang in the church choir, played the organ at St. Mary's, and was a member of the Christian Mother's. Mary enjoyed reading, music, fishing with Edwin, and traveling from Alaska to Africa. Her Christian Faith was always very important to Mary's life and her love of family was an example for all. Mary died peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at her home in Sleepy Eye at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her sisters - Agnes and husband Almont Bergee of Edina, MN, Alice and husband Sherman Miller of St. Paul, MN and Rita and husband Jerome Windschitl of Comfrey; a brother - Benedict and wife Ethel Callanan of Mission, TX; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
