Mary Ann Schei was born March 19, 1929, in Breda, IA to Richard and Minnie (Nightingale) Krenzien. The family moved to Magnolia, MN in 1936 where Mary Ann graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Lyle Schei on April 13, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian, MN. The couple farmed near Kanaranzi, MN until 1952, then moved to a farm near Magnolia. In 1954, they moved to Magnolia and operated the Magnolia Steak House until 1966. They then moved to Redwood Falls and ran the Valley Supper Club until 1984. In 1984, Lyle and Mary Ann purchased the Polish Palace in Wanda and renamed it the Wanda Country Steak and Drink. Mary Ann continued to be a part of the restaurant until December of 2005. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls and enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting, reading and traveling. Mary Ann also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, loved spending time with her family, and was well-known for her sugar cookies. Mary Ann Schei died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 76 years. Survivors include daughters- Deb and husband Roy Kramer of Alexandria, Sheryl and husband George Steinfurth of Lake Oswego, OR, and Wendy and husband Mark Siebenahler of Luverne; sons- Richard and wife Kathye Schei of Buffalo, MN, Gordon and wife Chris Schei of Taos, NM, and Scot Schei and Marge of Wanda; Janice Schei of St. Louis Park; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; sisters- Ivadell Primrose of Parkersberg, IA, and Annabelle Frakes of Luverne; and sisters-in-law- Virginia Schei of Luverne and Blanche Schei of Magnolia. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Lyle in 2002.
