Mary Margaret Mathiowetz was born on October 25, 1919 in Sigel Township, Brown County, MN to William and Mary Ann (Moldan) Reiniger. She attended country school #45 in Stark Township and one year at St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye. Mary married Alfred Mathiowetz on May 31, 1938 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They farmed Northeast of Comfrey and Mary continued to live on the farm after Alfred's death in 1978. She moved to Sleepy Eye in 1987. Mary especially loved being with her family. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards, watching TV, gardening and traveling.She was a member of CCW, 4-H leader for the Mulligan Minutemen and was involved in quilt making at Japanese Martyrs Church in the International Division of mission work. She is survived by her daughters, Arlyce Lee and special friend, Chuck Hanson both of Apache Junction, AZ, Karen Yaeger of Allen, TX, Judy (Robert) Kunkel of Sleepy Eye, Debbie (Duane) Distad of Good Thunder, MN, 10 grandchildren; Shelley (Steve) Hagen, Larry Morgan and special friend, Mark Hesse, Sherri Morgan, Curt (Rita) Morgan, Darren (Amy) Kunkel, Tonya (Lance) Wendinger, Brandon (Jenny) Kunkel, Chad Ludewig, Jesse Ludewig, Nicole Ludewig, 1 step grandchild, Keary Stolt, 26 great-grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Theresa Reiniger of Sleepy Eye, Lucille Mathiowetz of Springfield, Phyllis Mathiowetz of Hopkins and Winnifred Mathiowetz of Comfrey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alfred, son, Curtis, a son in infancy, granddaughter, Tiffany Yaeger and brothers, John and Joe Reiniger.
