Mary Ann Prechel

May 16, 1932 — April 12, 2025

Mary Ann Prechel was born May 16, 1932, to Alfred and Esther (Kersten) Sprink in Brown County. She attended District 13 Country School and Springfield High School graduating in 1950. Mary Ann furthered her education by attending nursing school at Union Hospital in New Ulm. She graduated in September of 1951, as a Licensed practical nurse and worked as an LPN at the New Ulm and Comfrey hospitals. Mary Ann married Donald Prechel on August 31, 1953 at the Springfield EUB Church. Together they lived in Comfrey and raised  3 children - Jodi, Jilleen and Arlo. She enjoyed gardening, making quilts with the church ladies club, trying out new recipes, adult coloring books and embroidering dish towels. Mary Ann was a member of  theRuth Circle at Church, Noweta garden club, and Senior Citizens Club in Comfrey.


Mary Ann died on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN at the age of 92.


She is survived by her children - Jodi (Byron) Nielsen, Jilleen Prechel and Arlo (Brenda) Prechel; grandchildren - Jason (Jessica) Nielsen, Kent Nielsen, Kyle (Kim) Nielsen and Becca Prechel; step grandchildren - Chad (Melissa) Gerdes, Amanda (Cale) Johnson and Christina (Eric) Kadeloch; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Esther Sprink, and her husband Donald Prechel.
