Marvin Leo Quiring was born on June 22, 1933, to Henry S. and Anna (Quiring) Quiring in Mountain Lake, MN. He first attended school at a country school near his home and graduated from the Mountain Lake High School. He continued his education with training to be a milk tester. Marvin was baptized on May 23, 1948, at the Gospel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. Marvin married LaVilla Mae Franz on December 11, 1953, at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. The soon went to live inJanesville, WI, where Marvin did his 1-W Service as a milk tester. They then moved to Marion, SD, where Marvin farmed. While in Marion they were active in the Bethesda Mennonite Church and started a youth group. In 1963, Marvin bought a farm near Mountain Lake, where he farmed, raising corn, soybeans, and alfalfa, and milking his dairy herd until his retirement. They were active at Bethel Mennonite Church and served on the Maranatha Ministries Board. In February 2000, Marvin was diagnosed with lymphomacancer. LaVilla died of cancer on January 27, 2001. On January 5, 2002, Marvin was united in marriage to Mildred (Rogers) Loewen at the Bethel Mennonite Church, and they made their home in Mountain Lake. Marvin suffered 3 more bouts with cancer, before dieing on Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the Windom Area Hospital. Marvin is survived by his wife, Mildred Quiring of Mountain Lake; 5 children, Joyce (Darrell) Dick of Mountain Lake, Jerry (Tina) Quiring of Owasso, OK, Roger (Nancy) Quiring of Mountain Lake, Nancy (Mikel) Mortenson of International Falls, MN, and Brian Quiring of Eden Prairie, MN; 8 grandchildren, Elisabeth (Darius) Teichroew, Lorrilee Dick, Bethany Quiring, Brittany Burrows, Tiffany Quiring, Melissa Quiring, Leechelle Quiring and Michael Fjerstad; a great granddaughter, Amara Teichroew; a stepson-in-law, John (Rebecca Untermaher) Blosser of Goshen, IN; 3 step grandchildren, Christopher (Emily) Blosser, Matthew Blosser and Kristen Blosser; a sister, Betty Harder of Mountain Lake; 2 brothers, Arnold (Norma) Quiring of Mountain Lake and Elvin (Dorothy) Quiring of Tucson, AZ; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two step daughters, Janlee Blosser and Velma Loewen; a brother, Donald Quiring; and a brother-in-law, Walter Harder.
