Marvin Walter Davis

Marvin Walter Davis, age 72, of Madelia, MN passed away on September 24, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. Marvin was born in Madelia, MN to Lloyd and Enid (Hasle) Davis on September 25, 1944. He graduated from Madelia High School in 1962. He attended Mankato Vocational Technical Institute with a degree in electronics while working for Midtex in Mankato. He was proud to have worked on the Apollo Space program which started his lifelong love of aviation and space exploration. He established Davis Sales & Service in 1969 and it continues as a family run business today. On February 8, 1964 Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Ardis Ellingsberg; this union produced three children, Thomas, Lynn and William. The vows they spoke, they took very seriously, and through the good and the bad, sickness and health their love story lasted 53 loving years. Marvin lived his life as a quiet benefactor, helping those in need and mentoring countless youth. He was recognized for this community service in 2002 by receiving the Oscar Sorbel Hometown Hero award. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ardis (Ellingsberg) Davis; daughter, Lynn (Scott) Limberg of Owatonna; son, Will (Brenda) Davis of Madelia; grandchildren, Jessica Heckman, Kevin Davis, Taylor Limberg, JNae Limberg and Courtney Davis; great-grandson, Zuelz Coleman; siblings, Larry Davis of Madelia, Shirley (Bill) Brown of Englewood, FL, Donna (Jerry) Kroeker of Wasilla, AK, Linda (Tom) Zeidler of Lakeville, MN, Steven (Sue) Davis of Rochester, MN and Jim (Jan) Davis of Little Falls, MN, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Enid Davis; infant son, Thomas Alan; siblings, Richard Davis, Ernie Davis, Doris Pudewell and sisters-in-law, Deloris Davis and Brenna Davis. The family would like to thank the countless doctors and nurses who have made our journey bearable.
