Martin Westman

Martin Richard Westman was born December 9, 1945 at St. James to parents Franklin and Mabel (Senf) Westman. Buzzy grew up in St. James where he attended St. Paul's School through the 8th grade then St. James High School where he graduated in 1963. He worked at Tony Downs Foods until he was drafted into the Army in 1965 where he served in Viet Nam. Upon his honorable discharge in 1967 he returned to St. james and Tony Downs Foods. On January 4, 1969 Buzz was united in marriage to Carol Peterson in Trimont. In 1971 Martin went to work as a supervisor at Butterfield Foods where he was currently employeed at the time of his death. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around the home. He was an avid Viking fan. He loved the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. Buzzy Westman passed away at his home on Sunday July 1, 2007 at the age of 61 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Nancy Nordby, and Nelda Westman. He is survived by his wife Carol Westman of Butterfield, children Sheila Westman od Windom, Robin Westman of Windom, Thomas Westman of Zimmerman, six grandchildren Blake, Jon, Dominique, Marissa, Gabriella, and Taylor Westman, sisters Joyce Stark of St. James, LaNola (Lester) Plath of Lester Prairie, step-father Arnold Karschnik , great aunt Fran Olson and many nieces and nephews.
