Martha Mary (Rothmeier) Remiger, 100 was born July 29, 1915 at home in Albin Township to Mary (Eckstein) and George Rothmeier. She graduated from 8th grade in Albin Township country school. Martha married Tom Remiger on September 19, 1933 at St. Mary's Church and made their home on a farm in Stark Township. After retiring they moved to a home in Sleepy Eye. They were married 56 years. Martha died 26 years to the day that her husband Tom passed away. Martha was a homemaker, a member of the German Christian Mothers and St. John's Catholic Aide, and St. Agnes Study Club. She started and led the Stark Happy Hustlers 4-H club and received the leader of the year award. She was twice President of Christian Mothers, a circle chairman, and received the Endowment Fund Award and the Spirit of St. Mary's Award. She loved gardening (grew lots of strawberries and flowers). She embroidered over 1000 baptismal garments for St. Mary's. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, dancing, sewing, card playing, and puzzles.
