Martha Stoesz, the daughter of Cornelius J. and Maria (Falk) Stoesz was born on October 28, 1906, in Watonwan County, MN. After graduating from Mountain Lake High School, she went on and graduated from Northwestern Bible College and also attendcollege in Mankato for two years. Martha was baptized in 1925, upon confession of her faith at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Mountain Lake. She taught school and did housework for others in Minneapolis before returning to Mountain Lake, where sheworked at several jobs and acted as a caregiver for her parents. In September 1957, Martha was united in marriage to Henry J. Dick at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Mountain Lake. Henry died in July 1970. She continued to make her home in MountainLake and worked at the Eventide Nursing Home. Martha was involved with the Mission Society at First Mennonite Church and volunteered at the Good Samaritan Village. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, puzzles and her family. Martha entered the EventideNursing Home in December 1999, and in September 2004, she moved to the Good Samaritan Village. Martha died on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake at the age of 98 years. Martha is survived by one step son, Harry and his wife Thelma Dick of Jeffers, MN; a step daughter-in-law, Gladys Dick of Huron, SD; 23 step grandchildren; numerous step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Shewas preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, John Stoesz and David Stoesz in infancy; five sisters, Marie Stoesz, Helen Stoesz, Annie Fast, Susie Balzer and Nettie Reimer; and six step daughters, Helen Schmidt, Leona Anderson, EstherFlatgard, Stella Wright and Clara Stoesz; and two step sons, MelRoy Dick and Harvey Dick.
