Martha Brandt was born November 29, 1923, in Selma Township, Cottonwood County to Gottfried and Eva (Diete) Heffele. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake on February 3, 1924, and confirmed April 10, 1938. Martha attended School District #61 and was united in marriage to Edwin 'Bud' Brandt on April 28, 1943, at Salem Lutheran Parsonage in Comfrey. She worked at Campbell Soup in Worthington, then Finger Hut in Windom for 12 years, then Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake for 16 years. The couple moved to the Laker Apartments in November of 2002, and Martha became a resident of the Good Samaritan Village on May 3, 2011. Martha was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by son- Larry and wife Lynn Brandt of Mountain Lake; daughters- Sandy and husband Bob Paulson of Mountain Lake, Sharon and husband Michael Raverty of Worthington, and Ruth and husband David Friesen of Colorado Springs, CO; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and sister Eva Goosen of Trimont. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin 'Bud' in 2004; grandson James Friesen; brothers- Fredric, Gottfried, Harry, Gustav, and 2 brothers in infancy; and sisters- Katherine Smit, Lydia Hildebrandt, Anna Wilaby, Mary Wolf, Molly Elsing, and Esther Bertilson.
