Marlyn Iverson

August 12, 1925 — January 14, 2015

Marlyn Irene Iverson was born on August 12, 1925 in Racine, MN. She was the daughter of Martin and Jessie (Hazelton) Thompson. In her early years at home, she would go with her father, Martin to deliver cream to area farmers. Around the age of 18 she began playing in a local polka band. Marlyn was musically gifted and able to pick up any instrument and play it. She also worked as a cleaning lady and later worked for a hospital in Austin, MN. At the age of 20, she married her husband, Ivan Clifford Iverson in Spring Valley, MN on January 21, 1945. Marlyn worked as a cook at a local eatery gas station on the north side of Spring Valley after her marriage. She later worked for her husband's aunt at a malt and burger stand, south of Spring Valley. In 1956, the family packed up and moved to California where the couple lived until the passing of Marlyn's husband, Ivan in 1993 when Marlyn returned to St. James, MN. Marlyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed going camping, fishing, and hunting with her husband. She had many hobbies, including crocheting, playing bingo, going to the casino, cooking, hosting parties and cook-outs. Marlyn is survived by her children; son, Clifford M. (Mary) Iverson, and daughter, Julie A. Iverson; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 6.5 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Rube Iverson, and a sister-in-law, Edna Iverson Schiedberg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Ike Iverson; parents, Martin and Jessie Thompson; son, Richard C. Iverson, and her brothers and sisters.
