Marlene Gertrude Bachmann was born on April 12, 1934, the daughter of Harvey and Rose (Allemann) Bachmann. Marlene was born and raised in Madelia, MN. She lived at home until the early 1980's before moving to REM-Madelia. She lived there with many new friends. In 1991, she moved into her new home with three roommates and where Community Options and Resources (COR) supported her care. It was in this home, where Marlene died on November 28, 2014 in the presence of her friends and those who cared for her. Marlene knew the town of Madelia like the back of her hand. She enjoyed walking many places and tending to the very large gardens that were planted by her mother Rose Bachmann. She was a hard worker, spending many hours cracking walnuts in order to sell the nut meat for money. Marlene participated in the Special Olympics and earned many medals for her efforts. She enjoyed bowling with Learning Unlimited in St. James, as well as taking crafting classes. She collected many things, including pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house, baseball cards, stuffed animals and puzzles. One of her biggest joys was going to work. She worked at Brown Nicolet Industries (BNI) that was later changed to MRCI in New Ulm for many years. Most recently, she worked for Enterprise Madelia, taking pride in working on fire starters. She loved watching sports, whether on the television or High School games. Her family was important to her, as was spending time with them on holidays. Her sense of humor and quick wit made everyone around her laugh. She will be remembered for her friendly and loving nature and will be missed by many. Marlene is survived by her loving family; brother, Raymond (Kay) Bachmann; sister, Caroline Bloomquist; many nieces and nephews; roommates, Tom Jensen, Denise Davis, Della Pierce, and all of the COR family. She is preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Rose (Allemann) Bachmann; brother, Willard (Donna) Bachmann, and brother-in-law, Vernon Bloomquist.
