Mark Orlando Loewen

August 31, 1955 — January 30, 2020

Mark Orlando Loewen was born in Mountain Lake on August 31, 1955 to Ervin and Frances (Harder) Loewen. He grew up on the family farm south of Mountain Lake and graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1974. Mark started farming as a senior in high school, and in 1981, he was united in marriage to Patrice (Patty) Fast. During their marriage, they were blessed with three children - Amanda, Steven, and Katie. He was a long-time member of the Mountain Lake Alliance Church and lived his faith in Jesus his Savior as an example to his family and others. On January 30, 2020, Mark was freed from his earthly suffering and is now in the presence of his heavenly Father. While Mark enjoyed farming in general, he developed a passion for marketing grain crops, and his expertise in that field led to him to start marketing clubs in various local towns, which eventually grew into a business in which he marketed grain for other farmers. On February 2, 2012, Mark suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke that forced his retirement from farming and his marketing business. In addition to farming and marketing, Mark served on numerous administration boards over the years, including the Mountain Lake Alliance Church board, the Mountain Lake Christian School board, Country Pride board of directors, and Pork Producers. He also enjoyed spending time with family, attending family reunions, having coffee with the guys in town, fishing, motorcycling, hosting fall hayride parties for family and friends, and attending his children's sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Erwin Fast and brother-in-law Mitchell Warnke. Mark is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patty; his children, Amanda (Kendal) Baerg of Cody, Wyoming, Steven (Hannah) Loewen of Mankato and Katie (Kyle) Martin of Omaha, Nebraska; grandsons, Dakota Baerg and Benjamin Loewen; sister, Vernelle (Parviz) Pakravan, brothers, Charles (Paula) Loewen and Douglas (Cynthia Camlin) Loewen; mother-in-law, Donna Fast and sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Tom) Morehouse, Karyn (Kermit) Gingerich, and Marcia Warnke.
