In honor of Marge the family prefers memorials contributions to either Sanford Hospice or The American Cancer Society in Marge's name. Marjorie Elaine Schutz Glick Reid, age 82, passed away the morning of January 3, 2010, following a courageous seven-month battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family who loved her greatly and who continue to be inspired by her attitude and steadfast faith. Marge graduated from Mountain Lake Public High School, and in 1949 earned a degree in social work at Bluffton College (Ohio). She married Dallas Glick in 1949. They had three children. In 1995 Marge married Gordon Bennett Reid of Dafter, MI. Together Marge and Gordon enjoyed dancing, visiting with friends and family, traveling, and wintering in Sun City, AZ. Marge was President of the Chippewa City Senior Citizen Club in the Dafter, MI area, where she continued summer residence after Gordon passed away in August 2008. She returned to Minnesota in the fall of 2009 to be close to family after being diagnosed with cancer. Marge was baptized at Bethel Mennonite Church of Mountain Lake, proclaiming her faith as a young woman. She reaffirmed her faith in 1996 at Faith Baptist Church in Dafter, MI, where she remained a member. Fellowship with her church family was an important part of her life. She is survived by three children: Lynn (Steve) Wolden of Redlands, CA, Dr. John (Grace) Glick of Finland, MN (currently on a year sabbatical in New Zealand), and Laurie (Rod) Stenke of Mountain Lake. Marge is survived by five grandchildren: John's sons, Jon, Levi and Jonah, and Laurie's children Jesse (fiance Melissa Radtke - children Morgan and Nolan) Stenke of Rochester, MN, and Courtney (David) Nelson of Springfield, MN - son Ian. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Jean Gustafson of Conrad, MT and her brother Robert (Phyllis) Schutz of Hastings, MN, as well as nieces and nephews. Further, Marge is survived by step-sons Edward (Brenda Benton) Reid of Lansing, MI, Arthur (Dorla) Reid of Dafter, Gene (Ruth Anne) Reid of Fenton, MI, and Karl (Phyllis) Reid of North Pole, AK, and many other loving relatives of Gordon Reid. The family wishes to thank both the Good Samaritan Society Village of Mountain Lake and Sanford Hospice for providing gracious loving care to Marge during her stay over the last several months. We also offer a special thank-you to Mary and Steve Klassen for the support they gave Marge during this time.
