Marjorie Gladys Gens age 102, of Lake Crystal, Minnesota passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at her home.


Visitation will be on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church-Madelia.


Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church-Madelia, on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 am.


The clergy will be Rev. Janet Adams. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Madelia.

Marjorie Gladys (Berry) Gens was born December 8th, 1922 in Waverly Township, Martin County, MN to Claude A. Berry and Amelia (Rono) Berry.  She attended Waverly Lutheran Church and was confirmed on Nov. 22, 1936.  Marjorie attended country schools in Martin County and graduated from Truman High School in 1941.   After graduation, she worked at the Tubular Micrometer Company and Schr Tomicro in St. James, MN.  On March 12, 1944 Marjorie and Donald Edward Gens were married by Rev. Hans Werner at the parsonage in Mankato, MN. Together, they farmed in Ceresco Township, Blue Earth County, where they raised two children, Barbara and Rodney.  Donald and Marjorie are members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia and faith played a central role in their lives.  Marjorie taught Sunday School, led youth groups and participated in the women's organizations.  A dedicated community member, Marjorie was a 4-H leader and later enjoyed being a judge at the Blue Earth County Fair.  She loved entertaining, cooking for large gatherings, preserving produce, baking, quilting, hardanger embroidery, making lefse, traveling, genealogy, fishing, and spending winters in Arizona.  Most of all, Marjorie cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.


Marjorie is survived by her husband of 80 years, Donald Gens; children, Barb (James) Vantine and Rodney (Brenda) Gens; grandchildren, Terri (Scott) Ingraham, Christa (Lee) Kreutter, Katie Vantine, Jill (Dave) Terrell, Darrin (Lindsay) Gens, Matt (Lacy Wellman) Gens; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ella Ingraham, Ashlynn and Kaitlin Kreutter, Logan Gens, Weston Gens, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lyle (Sylvia) Berry, sisters-in-law, Delta (Harold) Keitzer, Esther (Anton) Boeck, brother-in-law, Lorentz (Norva) Gens and granddaughter, Jody Vantine.
