Marjorie E. Gatzlaff was born on September 20, 1926, in Stately Township, the daughter of George and Ella (Tews) Buhr. She was united in marriage to Loren Gatzlaff on February 19, 1951, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN. Marge & Loren raised their family on a farm south of Sanborn. Marge was an industrious farm wife & loving mother. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Stately Township for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid. Marge became a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church after moving to Springfield in 2010. Marjorie was a smart, creative, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a passion for cooking. Large family meals were common, but Marge's chair was always empty because she was busy tending to the needs of those gathered at her table. It was rare to ever leave Marge's kitchen without coffee and treats. She also made many multi-tiered wedding cakes and themed birthday cakes. Marge loved to garden. One of her favorite winter activities was planning & ordering seeds for the next growing season. Occasionally she explored new produce such as peanuts, eggplant and jalepeo peppers. She showed her artistic side by making lovely corsages and flower arrangements for church and family gatherings. She also made and decorated dried floral wreaths. Marjorie was a skilled event organizer and hostess. She could talk with anyone and loved visiting with people. She is survived by her children - Jill (Tom) Cashon of Farmington, NM; David Gatzlaff of Sanborn, MN, and Doug (LuAnn) Gatzlaff of Springfield; 4 grandchildren; and sister - Bernice Balbach. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Loren in 2010; sister - Irene Krueger and brother - LeRoy Buhr Visitation 1 9:00 am - 10:30 am Saturday, April 1, 2017 Chapel of the Good Shepherd, St. John Lutheran Home 201 S.
