Marjorie B. Carlson was born August 19, 1920, at Verdi, Minnesota to Edwin and Rose (Klees) Tams. She graduated from Comfrey High School in 1938 after which she was employed at the Peoples State Bank until 1945. On November 18, 1942, Marjorie married Quentin W. Carlson. She lived in Comfrey until moving to New London in 2006 to be close to her family. Marjorie was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, New Hope Ladies group, the WELCA, Federated Womans Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, St. John Lutheran Home Auxiliary and the Comfrey Hospital Auxiliary. She also volunteered many hours at St. John Lutheran Home, the New Hope Parish office and at the Comfrey Senior Dining. Marjorie loved time spent with her family and enjoyed reading, walking, biking and the volunteer work she felt privileged to do. Marjorie B. Carlson died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London at the age of 89 years. She is survived by son Robert and wife Jeanette Carlson of Spicer; three grandchildren- Nicole Pulsifer of Spicer, Bill and wife Lori Carlson of New London, and Kristin and husband Nicklaus Dalton of Spicer; five great-grandchildren- Dillon and Jasmine Pulsifer, Allison and Saige Carlson, and Palmer Dalton; brother-in-law Dr. R.D. Sutherland and wife Carolyn of Alto, NM; sister-in-law Ilene Tams of Loveland, CO; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Quentin in 1989; sister Jeannine Sutherland; brother Lyle Tams; grandson-in-law Bill Pulsifer; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
