Marion Read

Marion Louise Wolle was born in St. James, MN, on December 13, 1948 the daughter of Julius and Ruth (Swenson) Wolle. She grew up in St. James where she graduated from high school in 1966. She then attended beauty school in Fairmont. In August 1967 she married Vernon Read in St. James. Marion worked as a hairdresser in Sleepy Eye for ten years. After her divorce she moved to Mankato in 1983 and then to St. James in 1985 where she waitressed at the Boston, the old Hometown Cafe and then for 15 years at Happy Chef before they closed. She was a waitress at Hometown Cafe at the time of her death. Marion enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, reading, sewing and embroidery. She loved to travel with her sisters on their Wednesday road trips. Marion Read, age 59, of St. James died at the St. James Medical Center in St. James on Sunday, October 12, 2008. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother and a sister. She is survived by her daughters Joyce (Jesse) Nau of St. James, Jan Read and special friend Mike of Amherst, WI, sisters Gloria Thulien of St. James, Vicki Janzen of St. James, brother Wayne (Cheryl) Wolle of Welcome, three grandchildren Justin, Cody and Sarah, ex-husband Vernon Read of Atwater and uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
