Marilyn Schultz

Marilyn Jean Hovden, the daughter of Arthur and Cora (Nichtern) Hovden, was born on July 24, 1936 in St. James, MN. She graduated second in her class from the St. James High School. Marilyn grew up in the Church of Christ in Madelia, MN where she was baptized, and she was a member of the Alliance Missionary Church in Mountain Lake, MN since 1967. On October 29, 1955, Marilyn was united in marriage to James Donald Schultz in Madelia, MN. They made their home in the Twin Cities area until 1964, Mankato, MN until 1967, and St. James until moving to Mountain Lake in 1979. Prior to the birth of their children Marilyn worked as an executive secretary at Chrysler Corporation and Archer Daniels Midland. She enjoyed cooking and homemaking, traveling with Jim and camping with her family, listening to music, and playing games, especially UpWords, Scrabble and Yatzee, with her family, grandchildren and mother. Marilyn died on Friday, November 14, 2008, at the Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN. She attained the age of 72 years. Marilyn is survived by her husband, James Schultz of Mountain Lake; two children, Lori Golinghorst and her husband Scott of Mountain Lake, and Dr. Randall Schultz and his wife Kathy of Oshkosh, WI; five grandchildren, Abbey Himmel and her husband David of Pearland, TX, Austin Golinghorst and Ethan Golinghorst both of Mountain Lake, Erica Schultz and Andrew Schultz, both of Oshkosh; her mother, Cora Hovden of Mountain Lake; a brother, Robert Hovden and his wife Judy of Centerville, OH; a sister-in-law, Grace Skrabeck and her husband Ancel of St. James; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father.
