Marilyn Malmgren

March 10, 1926 — December 19, 2004

Marilyn M. Malmgren was born March 10, 1926 to Albert and Thelma (Jordan) Kizer at her parents home on the farm by Gilmore City, IA. Her family moved to Minnesota in 1933 from Iowa. She attended school in Madelia, MN graduating from high school in 1943. Her main hobby was roller skating at the roller rink in St. James where she met her husband-to-be, Hoot Malmgren. She was married August 11, 1945 to Arthur Hoot Malmgren at the St. James Catholic Church. She worked at Citizens State Bank in St. James for over 40 years as a teller and bookkeeper. She was a member of the Mrs. Jaycees, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters, and the St. James Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and sending birthday cards to relatives and friends. Marilyn and Hoot were members of a campers club and following retirement wintered in Arizona with friends from Minnesota. Marilyn is survived by her husband, A.J. Hoot Malmgren of St. James; three sons, Chuck and wife Wyona Malmgren of Blairstown, IA, Ron and wife Char Malmgren of Oak Park Heights, MN, and Jim and wife Mickey Malmgren of St. James; one daughter, Francie and husband Laurence Puterbaugh of Sioux Falls, SD; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Hubert Kizer of Crestwell, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Donald John; two brothers, Don and Bob Kizer; and one sister, Bunny Janovsky.
