Marie Betty Utz

Marie was born November 27th, 1934 to Leo and Elizabeth (Brieganzer) Fromm. Marie attended country school until 6th grade and graduated from Sleepy Eye St. Marys High School. Marie was united in marriage on April 27th 1963 to John Edwin Utz. John and Marie made their home in Springfield, where they raised their 4 children, Patrick, Laureen, Darla, and Daniel. Marie worked at Dr. Tessiens office as an aide for much of her adult life and at Del Monte foods during the summer seasons. Following that, she worked several years at The Rainbow and Genes Café. Upon retirement in 2002, John and Marie moved to Vining, MN. Marie loved watching the Minnesota Vikings and Nascar (Jeff Gordon was her favorite driver), crocheting, gardening, tending to her famous yellow marigolds, canning, listening to old time music, and most of all, spending time with her family. While she battled dementia for the past decade, Maries kind heart and fiery spirit never wavered. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all the lives she touched. Marie Utz, passed away peacefully in her home on July 24, 2017, at the age of 82. Marie is survived by her husband John Utz, Vining, MN; son Patrick Utz, Becker, MN, grandchildren Marissa and Joseph; daughter Laureen Utz, (Riyadh) Saudia Arabia, grandchildren Kamal, Maryam, Annesah, Mujahid, Emaan and Muhammad; daughter Darla Portner (Daniel), Springfield MN, grandchildren Brittany, Brianna and Alexander; son Daniel Streich (Jackie), Springfield, MN , grandchildren Alexis, Taylar, Mitchell, Allyson and Ely; greatgrandchildren Levi and Jace; brother Jerry; sister-in-law Marilyn Fromm; sisters-in-law Lois Fromm, Lois Cleary, and Judy Fox; along with many nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Elizabeth Fromm; stepfather Adolph Stage; parents-in-law Joseph and Rosella Utz; sister Shirley Streich; brothers Herbert and Marvin Fromm; brothers-in-law Clifford Streich, Frank Marz, Richard Donahue, John Cleary, and Clete Utz; sisters-in-law Pat Marz, Patricia Fromm, and Kathy Utz.
