Marie A. Curran

Marie A. Curran, age 86 of Tampa, FL, died on June 20, 2023. A visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye with Parish Prayers at 4:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church-North Entrance. A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Mary’s at 10:30 AM with Father Mark Steffl officiating. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/stmarysleepyeye. The interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Sturm Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Marie was a compassionate and empathetic woman for whom family meant the most in life – as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. In her youth, Marie joined her parents and siblings in running the family farm. Later in life, after years as a homemaker, Marie learned to live independently and became financially secure. Marie saved up enough to buy a place, high in the Smokey Mountains, to enjoy with her family. Her children and grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, and Jade, used to enjoy hiking into the deep woods with its streams and waterfalls. Marie was a caring and giving woman and helped look after her daughter-in-law, Irene, who, in Minneapolis, gave birth prematurely to her 2.8 lb. granddaughter Taylor. Marie was close to Danielle when she was young. She also had a special place in her heart for Jade. She was so proud of the ribbons Jade had won in sports and cheerleading. Marie became very close to her daughter Kim because she would help her when she was struggling her last few years, even though Kim had her own health issues to address. Todd was very close and was probably Marie’s favorite. And, as the oldest, Kevin had a special relationship with her as eldest sons often have. Marie kept in constant touch with her siblings and relatives, primarily those living in Minnesota. Marie looked forward to her weekly calls from sister Alice and her annual luncheon with her brother Tom on her birthday. Facebook played an important role in her life, especially when she lost her mobility. She had family and many online friends, including old Sleepy Eye friends with whom she communicated. Marie was kindhearted, generous, good-natured, and loved by her family, just a few of the reasons she will be deeply missed.

Marie is survived by her children; brothers, Donny Fromm, Tom Fromm, and Douglas Fromm; sisters, Ruth Warne, Alice Imker, and Dede Wahnoutke; as well as many nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Mary, and her brother, Lenny Fromm.
