Marie Cook

There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Family's choice. Marie Ann Cook was born on August 11, 1935 on the home farm in Mulligan Township, Brown County to A. Florian Anna (Moldan) Windschitl. She graduated from St. Mary's in Sleepy Eye in 1953. Marie married Melvin Cook on April 16, 1956 at the Japanese Martyrs Church in Leavenworth. They moved to the Cook farm where she lived her entire life. She was a Christian Mother, Secretary for Leavenworth Baseball Assoc. and Treasurer for Mulligan Township. Marie enjoyed gardening, collections of shot glasses and angels, traveling and her family and grandchildren. She loved to attend sporting events, watching the grandchildren play, cooking and baking. Marie A. (Mrs. Mel) Cook, age 73 of rural Comfrey, died Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Melvin of rural Comfrey, children; Dawn (Dave) Nazarenus of New Richland, Denise (Jerry) Osborn of Madelia, Dora special friend, Victor Martinez of Wilmington, CA, Greg (Stacie) of Edmond, OK, Darla (Steve) Remus of Sleepy Eye, Danelle Nellie (Dan) Wersal of Danube, Rick (Laurie) of Springfield, Douglas (Melanie) of Springfield, Deanna Annie (Darren) Huisman of Rochester, Jason fiance, Michelle Monzon of Marshall, grandchildren spouses; Kelly Eric Rubottom, Tyler Nazarenus, Deidra Dede Osborn, John Osborn special friend, Amanda Beto, Joshua, Shayla Nicholas Cook, Sam Jennifer Remus, Vanessa Remus special friend, Kyle Voelz, Sydney Karrah Remus, Kristen Dominic Facile, Dusten Wersal special friend, Breana Zieske, Ryan Cook special friend, Brittany Meidl, Alex, Taylor Carter Cook, Jennifer Makenna Cook, Tessa Huisman, great-grandchildren; Sonia Marie Rubottom, Alaina Beto Tryis Korbin Osborn, Jackson Charles Remus, Daveon Francis Facile, brothers, Herbert (Bernetta) Windschitl of Cold Springs and Peter (Lois) Windschitl of Comfrey, sister-in-law, Marlene Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, brother-in-law, Donald Duke Cook of Comfrey and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leonard wife Delores and brothers, Leo and Gilbert.
