Marie Clevenger

Marie Ruth Quiring was born January 12, 1918 on the family farm in Mt. Lake Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to parents Rev. H.H. Quiring and his wife Anna (Schultz) Quiring. Marie Ruth attended grades 1-6 at Dist. 65 Country School from 1924 to 1930, she then attended grades 7-9 at Mt. Lake Bible School and grades 10-12 at Mt. Lake High School graduating in 1937. She then attended two years of Bible Training at Mt. Lake Bible School. She was united in marriage to Rudy Janzen on May 30, 1941. The couple made their home SW of Mt. Lake where they farmed until retiring in 1969. They moved to Spirit Lake, IA where they worked at the Dickinson County Home for 10 years before retiring. The couple then moved to Ord, NE and onto Arcadia, NE where Rudy died in 1983. Marie Ruth then moved to Lincoln, NE met Garwin Clevenger, the couple married on March 18, 1989. They made their home in Ohio for 14 years before making their home back in Nebraska in 2003. Marie Ruth was active in the Gospel Memonite Church in Mt. Lake as a child she accepted Christ and was baptized in 1933, as an adult she taught Sunday School and Wednesday night childrens classes. She loved making dolls, knitting afghans and gardening. She loved to take her grandchildren on nature walks where they did bird watching. Marie Ruth Janzen Clevenger passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Waverly Care Center in Waverly, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Rudy, infant daughter Virginia Ruth, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her husband Garwin Clevenger of Waverly, NE, children Frank D. Barbara Janzen of Littleton, CO, Dean L. Janzen of Hesston, KS, Fern Chet Babcock of Greenwood, NE, step-children Helen June Bill Pinkston of Elida, OH, Jeanne Gary Brenneman of Kalispel, MT, Mark Clevenger of Elida, OH, Paul Janet Clevenger of Columbus Grove, OH, 4 granddaughters, 14 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Helen Sawatzky and Esther Dick both of Mt. Lake.
